BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Orientation
Orientation is an important first step allowing you and your child to connect with our Centre and our staff. We encourage you to arrange a tour prior to commencing care. This is a fantastic opportunity to become familiar with your child’s potential new setting and for you both to get comfortable with their educator. A degree of familiarity will help ease the change in routine and aid a smooth transition into Jungle Gems.
We understand that entering this new chapter can be an anxious time for both children and families. The first day can be especially tough. We like to think that this time in your lives is exciting and cause for celebration. Your child is embarking on an amazing journey of development, growth and learning. Keep the spirits high and the mood light in the lead up to your first day by discussing all the wonderful things they will encounter here and the new friends they will make. Remember if you’re happy, they’re more likely to be happy too.
Don’t forget our educators are leaders in the field and we genuinely care. We are here to help every step of the way and will support both children and families through this settling in period.
Arrival & Departure
Like all approved Childcare Centre’s, Jungle Gems has a compulsory sign in and sign out procedure. Ours is electronic, which makes this process very quick and easy. Sign in and sign out takes place at our admin counter.
What To Bring
Upon enrolment families are provided with a Jungle Gems Explorer Welcome Pack. Consisting of:
⦁ A Jungle Gems bucket hat
⦁ A Jungle Gems safari T-shirt
⦁ 1 set of bed sheets
⦁ A dry bag for soiled or dirty clothing
Whilst our branded T-shirts and hat are not a compulsory uniform we do encourage children to wear them whenever possible.
A good idea is to pack a bag / backpack big enough to fit everything that your child may need for the day. For independence we work towards children being able to recognise and open their own bag. Please still ensure your child’s bag is clearly labeled so we can assist children to identify theirs if needed.
We recommend that you include the below items in your packing list:
⦁ Hat
⦁ Spare clothes and underwear
⦁ Sheet set for rest time
⦁ Drink bottle (clearly labeled)
⦁ Dummy if required (clearly labeled in a sealed container)
⦁ Dry bag
⦁ Any required medications
